Terminal 2, The Queen’s Terminal, is a landmark in energy efficiency, being the world’s first airport to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating. Its design aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 40% using a mix of active and passive energy systems.

The terminal features a distinctive roof with three large waves, symbolizing the key stages of the passenger journey: check-in, security, and boarding, enhancing intuitive navigation. To minimize environmental impact, the construction employed innovative modular solutions and a well-planned schedule.

The roof’s tilted waves incorporate north-facing skylights, allowing ample natural light while reducing harmful solar radiation and saving energy. Departing passengers can enjoy over 215,280 square feet of commercial area across two floors near the boarding gates, with great views of the runway.

Recognized as the Best Airport Terminal in the World (Skytrax 2018), The Queen’s Terminal has received numerous accolades, including Green Design from the Chicago Athenaeum, highlighting its innovative and sustainable design.
